FoE Indonesia releases new documentary

Jan 14, 2025

Friends of the Earth Indonesia/WALHI has released a new documentary titled ‘REMPANG’.

This documentary depicts the spirit of the Rempang people’s struggle for their land. It tells the dynamics of the conflict over the development of the National Strategic Project (PSN) that took away the rights of the Indigenous People and local community of Rempang Island, Riau Islands Province, Indonesia.

Not only do the Indigenous People and local community of Rempang refuse to be evicted from their own land, they also refuse the development of the PSN Rempang Eco-City, which has the potential to destroy their sources of livelihood as farmers and fishermen.

You can watch the full documentary here, or on WALHI Riau’s Youtube page.
